As a fan of your journal article “Public Health 3.0: A call to action for public health to meet the challenges of the 21st Century”, I have been impressed with the insight you have in the area of public health policy. I am rather interested in joining you and complete my practicum, during which I would like to contribute to your study with my academic interests and skills.

Here is a my short summary of areas of expertise, and my project experience which are also included.

Over the past four years’ study in University of Washington and Columbia University, I have gained biostatistical experience by reading widely and engaging in researches on risk factor for heart disease analysis and defective vaccination coverage analysis. Also, experience grows quickly in practice. From December 2018 to May 2019, a part-time Biostatistician in Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center trained my ability to build different models for statistical analysis, and document them. In addition, the position of Lab Assistant at Paredez Lab in University of Washington from December 2017 to June 2018 allows me to realize more the complexity and variability of experiments. This motivates me to believe that more advanced knowledge in statistical methodology may be a solution, and therefore worthy of my endeavor. My past research experiences and expertise of quantitative analytical skills have prepared me to apply my statistical skills to biological researches and help more people live in a healthy manner.

Inspired to become a biostatistician like you, I am strongly interested in the use of biostatistical methods as an effective way to analyze and solve the real-world healthy problems. Many thanks for your reading and look forward to study it with you. Feel free to ask me more about my expertise and educational background at your convenience.
